According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, over half of all highway fatalities on Halloween night last year involved an impaired driver. What makes the even more frightening is that many kids are out trick-or-treating while impaired drivers are on the road.
AAA is urging everyone to plan ahead if they plan on drinking alcohol by having a designated driver or arrange for another ride home.
AAA Nebraska Spokesperson Rose White says for those that don’t plan ahead they are again teaming with Budweiser for a Tow To Go free ride home. White says, “Triple-A members and non-members can call for a Two To Go ride anytime today through 6 a.m. tomorrow morning. Triple-A will then safely transport them and their vehicle home or somewhere safe within ten miles.”
The Tow To Go program was launched in Nebraska last year and is offered on ten major holidays. White says those holidays are the times when people tend to drink alcohol. That includes Super Bowl Sunday, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
The number to call for a free ride home is 855-286-9246.
