A former assistant city prosecutor from Iowa has pleaded guilty to conspiring to sell marijuana in Omaha.
The United States Attorney’s office says former Council Bluffs, Iowa Assistant City Prosecutor, 44-year-old Donald Bauermeister, resigned his position and surrendered his law license after being confronted by FBI agents.
Federal prosecutors say a 13-pound shipment of marijuana was seized in Summit County, Utah. The driver told officers he had been paid by Bauermeister to pick up the marijuana in Oregon and take it to Omaha. A series of texts with specific instructions from Bauermeister on where to deliver the marijuana was found on the driver’s cell phone.
Bauermeister is scheduled to be sentenced in late January.
