An officer resigned after the Nebraska State Patrol began a criminal investigation into the reported sexual assault.
Lincoln Police Chief Jeff Bliemeister went on Facebook to announce the second resignation.
“During the course of our ongoing internal investigation, we identified a second officer who violated the Lincoln Police Department general orders and code of ethics,” Bliemeister stated during his Facebook post. “This officer was not part of the original complaint received by the Nebraska State Patrol and there are no allegations of criminal wrongdoing.”
The police chief has not taken questions and declines to elaborate on the case.
Both investigations continue.
