Nebraska basketball coach Tim Miles joked that they hope to celebrate the return to Lincoln by Jeff Rekeweg by “kicking the crap out of him.” Rekeweg is in his eighth season as the head coach at Northwood University in Michigan and the Timberwolves play the Huskers on Tuesday night in an exhibition game. He played at Nebraska from 1986 to 1988.
“I thought it was a good idea to play him” said Miles. “He has had a chance to play the Michigan schools before but this gives him a chance to show his players where he played.”
Miles who says senior guard Anton Gill and sophomore forward Isaiah Roby will sit out Tuesday’s game with injuries. Gill is bothered by a sore knee and strained groin.
“Those are sensitive things so I want to make sure he is full go when he can come back”, added Miles. “Roby hurt the joint of his finger a few weeks ago and reinjured it the other night.”
The Huskers open the regular season at home on Saturday night against Eastern Illinois.
