Omaha police are investigating a deadly shooting that happened Sunday around 12:45 p.m. Police say two men were in a vehicle traveling southbound on the North Freeway at Hamilton when someone in another vehicle fired shots at them.
21 year old Xavier Bass was rushed to a hospital in extremely critical condition and later died. 24 year old Marcus Eiland was taken to a hospital in serious condition.
Police continue to search for the suspects and believe they were in a mid-90’s Chevy Suburban or Tahoe with running boards and an aftermarket paint job.
First Responders will hold a prayer walk for Bass this evening. It will start at 5:30 near 28th and Charles Street.
This is one of several shootings Omaha police are investigating.
Yesterday afternoon a family was driving near the Henry Doorly Zoo at 13th and D Street when their vehicle was hit by gunfire. A bullet just missed a one year old secured in a car seat. Police say that bullet came from the gun of a suspect who just robbed a nearby gas station.
There was another shooting around 7 p.m. Sunday near 37th and Meredith that left a man in serious condition.
