Congressional Republicans are working on two tax bills that contain significant differences. Senator Deb Fischer is optimistic and work continues on the Senate version, which she supports.
Senator Fischer says, “We are working on the Senate Bill right now. In fact the Senate Finance Committee is marking it up this week. After Thanksgiving it will come to the floor. What we’ve seen right now in the Senate bill can certainly change. Obviously I like a lot that is in the bill. I think it is important we focus on the middle class and those folks are receiving the tax relief they need.” She says this is a chance to turn the country’s economy around.
The U.S. House is debating their version and could vote on it yet this week. Fischer is hopeful the compromise bill will pass and it is possible President Trump could sign a new tax bill before the end of the year.
