A 31-year-old Guatemala resident who entered the country illegally has been sentenced to 15 months in federal prison after being discovered with stolen guns.
Luis Lorenzo-Urbina had been place on an immigration bond and allowed to remain in the United States pending the proceedings of immigration court. He had been residing in Bellevue.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office reports Bellevue police responded to a disturbance call in May of this year and encountered Lorenzo-Urbina. Police searched his vehicle and found a Mossberg shotgun and a Ruger revolver. Both had been reported stolen from an Iowa residence. Surveillance photos showed Lorenzo-Urbina showing the Ruger to a pawnshop employee.
After he serves his prison term, Lorenzo-Urbina will be placed on three years’ supervised release.
