The Nebraska basketball team faces its first test of the season as the Huskers visit St. John’s in the third annual Gavitt Tipoff Games. The Huskers are 2-0 after wins over Eastern Illinois and North Texas and take on a Red Storm team that is 2-0 behind strong guard play.
“It is an athletic bunch that is very active and can do a lot of things and disrupt you defensively”, said Nebraska coach Tim Miles. “Offensively they are electric. They have got playmaking guards and everybody can shoot threes.”
Tonight’s matchup is one of eight Gavitt Tipoff Games, a conference series between the Big Ten and Big East in honor of Basketball Hall of Famer Dave Gavitt. For St. John’s and Nebraska, it is also a non-bracketed game for next week’s AdvoCare Invitational in Orlando.
