A 60-year-old Omaha man has been killed when a sports utility vehicle ran a red light and crashed into his car.
The Omaha Police Department reports the SUV driven by 34-year-old Luis Hernandez westbound on Harrison Street early this morning ran a red light at 96th Street and crashed into the driver’s side of a southbound car driven by Jose Gil-Rodriguez. Omaha and Papillion Fire Department rescue squads rushed the two to area hospitals.
Gil-Rodriguez was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at Nebraska Medicine.
Hernandez is being treated at Midlands Hospital for cuts and abrasions to his left leg.
The accident remains under investigation.
