The Nebraska Department of Labor reports the unemployment rate in Omaha dropped three-tenths of a percent, from 2.7% to 2.4%. In Lincoln, the rate dropped from 2.3% to 2.1%. The unemployment rate in Grand Island edged up a tenth of a percent to 2.4% last month.
Nonfarm employment in Nebraska last month totaled 1,035,730, up 10,379 so far this year.
Professional and business services had shown the most growth this year, adding more than 4,000 jobs. The leisure and hospitality sector has grown by nearly 2,500 with other services adding slightly more than 2,000 jobs this year.
Unemployment in Nebraska remains well under the national unemployment rate of 4.1%.
