Baylor outscored Creighton 41-26 in the second half as the 22nd ranked Bears beat the Bluejays 65-59 in the championship game of the Hall of Fame Classic in Kansas City. It was Creighton’s third straight game against a ranked opponent and its first loss after four wins.
The Jays could not overcome cold shooting that saw them connect on only 34 percent, including two of 18 from three point range.
“We struggled shooting it as a whole”, said Creighton coach Greg McDermott. “We played in an 85 or 86 possession game yesterday that was up and down. Were we worn out in the second half? Who knows?”
Marcus Foster and Khyri Thomas were named to the All-Tournament Team for Creighton. Baylor’s Jo Lual-Acuil Jr. was named MVP after 15 points and 15 bounds in the final.
