The fresh Christmas tree business is booming in Nebraska. Debbie Nordstrom is the co-owner of Nordstrom’s Christmas Tree Farm near Omaha and says they had to close a week earlier than expected because of a big jump in business. She says their fresh cut trees went fast.
Nordstrom says, “We right now are about 500 a year but that will increase as we have more trees that are ready in the 6 to 8 foot range in our field. We have 15,000 trees in our field ad different levels of growth.”
Nordstrom says they don’t want to be sold out. They are playing it safe and cutting off sales now so they will have plenty of trees in the years to come to meet customer need. She says there was a huge jump in business this year.
Nordstrom says, “The majority of people that are brand new, we said how did you hear about us? They Googled it and they are new to Omaha. There is a big influx of people moving from all over the country to Omaha and they are all wanting fresh cut trees.”
Nordstrom says there is also a demand for much taller trees. She says the demand for trees 10 to 12 feet tall have skyrocketed in recent years. She says they want their business to be steady and stable for their customers and continue to expand their operation. She says the sky is the limit for what they will be doing in the future.
