The bread might be a bit burned at the Rotella plant at 106th and Harrison Street in Papillion. Fire crews saw smoke coming from the roof and the garage doors of the bakery when they arrived around 8:30 this morning.
Papillion Fire Chief Bill Bowes says, “In making contact with the Rotella’s personnel, there was an oven on fire. We assessed the situation. They had the building evacuated and there were no injuries fortunately.”
Chief Bowes says it took firefighters about 12 minutes to get the fire under control. They spent several hours working to ventilate the building of smoke. What caused the oven to fail remains under investigation.
