A 26-year-old mother who confessed to shaking her four-week-old daughter and dropping her twice, leading to her death, has been sentenced to at least 60 years in prison.
Jocelyn Nordin has been sentenced after being convicted of child abuse.
Valley County District Judge Karin Noakes sentenced Nordin to no less than 60 years in prison and no more than 70. Nordin will have to serve 29 years before becoming eligible for parole, according to the Nebraska Attorney General’s office.
The Valley County Sheriff’s Office investigated the case. Nordin made an emergency call May 2nd of last year to report her infant wasn’t breathing. The investigation determined the injuries were consistent with child abuse. Nordin later confessed to investigators she shook and dropped the child. The baby died of her injuries.
