The state Department of Labor reports the unemployment rate didn’t budge from October to November.
The Omaha area unemployment rate edged up a tenth of a percent to 2.5% while the Lincoln unemployment rate dropped a tenth of a percent to fall to 2.1% in November. Grand Island saw a slight increase in its unemployment rate, rising from 2.4% in October to 2.5% in November.
Nonfarm employment continues to top one million at 1,038,603, an increase of more than 8,000 for the year. The professional and business services sector has grown the most this year, adding 3,439 jobs. Leisure and hospitality is up 3,316 this year with other services up 1,665.
The national unemployment rate in November was 4.1%.
