The University of Nebraska demolished the Lincoln campus’s Cather and Pound residence halls Friday morning.
The two, 13-story towers have stood over the city campus for 54 years.
They were imploded this (Fri) morning with a series of about 20 explosions.
It took just about five seconds for the two to come crashing down.
University Housing reports cleanup of the site begins immediately. All debris should be cleared away and some additional site work will be completed by next May or June.
The university’s master plan designates the Cather-Pound property as a general building site.
The university will convert the area into a temporary green space with walking paths.
