A 19-year-old has been charged with motor vehicle homicide after a deadly crash in Omaha.
The Omaha Police Department reports Vismar Carmona-Martinez was taken to police headquarters after the wreck where he submitted to a breath test and was booked on one count of felony motor vehicle homicide.
Omaha police say officers responded to a personal injury crash report just after midnight at Highway 75 Northbound near 0 Street. A northbound car driven by Carmona-Martinez, driving faster than the posted speed limit, struck a car on the off-ramp lane for L Street. The force of the impact sent Carmona-Martinez’s car across the two northbound lanes and into a concrete jersey barrier.
Carmona-Martinez was not injured. The driver of the second car, 67-year-old Ann Smock of Omaha, suffered critical injuries and was taken to Nebraska Medicine. She died shortly after arriving.
Highway 75 Northbound was closed at Chandler Road for about three hours.
