Lincoln recorded no murders in 2017 after recording a record number of murders in 2016.
Lincoln, Nebraska’s capital city with a population of approximately 250,000, had no murders for the first time since 1991.
Lincoln police investigated only five shootings with injuries last year.
That mark came a year after Lincoln recorded 11 homicides.
The preliminary figure could change.
In total, Lincoln police investigated 259 deaths last year, which included 47 cases in which a police spokeswoman said the cause and manner of death are not immediately apparent. Some high-profile cases remain active and could possibly be classified as homicides.
