The parking lots at the Central Nebraska Regional Airport in Grand Island have always been free, but that’s about to change.
Hall County leaders have okayed a plan to begin charging for parking as of next week.
If you’re just popping in to pick someone up, that’ll still be free, but anything over 90 minutes will soon come with a fee.
It’ll be $3 a day in the west lot and $5 a day in the east lot, closest to the terminal.
A study found the vast majority of vehicles in the airport’s parking lots come from outside the county.
Funds generated by the parking fees, which start next Tuesday, as Monday’s a holiday, will go to offset property taxes.
