Man from Texas faces prison sentence, deportation to Mexico after convicted for selling meth in Nebraska

January 12, 2018 By Brent Martin

A Texas mans faces more than 10 years in federal prison and deportation to Mexico after being convicted of selling methamphetamine as well as interstate transportation in aid of racketeering.

Federal prosecutors say 44-year-old Roberto Ochoa Cantu of Alamo, Texas shipped meth from south Texas to Lincoln for distribution.

Officers arrested Cantu early last year after a one-year investigation.

According to the United States Attorney’s Office, Cantu sent proceeds from the drug sales back to Texas through cash deposits made into accounts opened in Nebraska banks. Cantu sold methamphetamine to an informant in Lincoln six times between November of 2016 to February of 2017, including a sale of 62 grams of actual/pure methamphetamine, which occurred on December 4, 2016.

Cantu told the informant to pay for the drugs by depositing cash into bank accounts in Lincoln. Others in south Texas withdrew the deposits from the banks.

Federal prosecutors say Cantu is a citizen of Mexico and likely will be deported after serving his prison sentence.
