A 47-year-old Omaha man has died from injuries he suffered when he was run over by a car while crossing the street.
Omaha police report Julian Flores, severely injured in the wreck Wednesday, died of his injuries Friday.
The driver of the car, 24-year-old Justin Peters of Bellevue, has been charged with driving drunk and leaving the scene of an injury accident.
According to the Omaha Police Department, police officers and Omaha firefighters responded to an emergency call just before 7 o’clock Wednesday morning at 2100 Cuming Street. Investigators say a car traveling east on Cuming Street ran over Flores as he crossed Cuming from north to south. Peters fled the scene, but officers located him about half an hour after the wreck.
Investigators say Peters showed several signs of impairment from alcohol. Emergency crews rushed Flores to Nebraska Medicine with a critical head injury. He died two days later.
An autopsy will be performed. Information will be turned over to the Douglas County Attorney’s Office.
