Two western Nebraska residents died in a crash in the Panhandle during the blizzard Monday.
The Nebraska State Patrol reports two Kimball residents died late Monday afternoon on ice and snow covered Highway 71 near the Colorado state line.
NSP says 30-year-old Frankie Back lost control of her sport utility vehicle in the high winds Monday afternoon. The SUV crossed the center line and collided with an oncoming semi tractor-trailer.
Back and her passenger, 33-year-old Joshua Hack, died in the collision. The truck driver, 31-year-old Abraham Lamas-Cuevas of the country of Mexico, was not injured in the wreck.
Blizzard conditions Monday caused numerous wrecks across the state, including several injury accidents. The two deaths in western Nebraska are the only reported fatalities at this time.
