Creighton faces a difficult road test in BIG EAST play on Thursday night with a visit to top ranked Villanova. The Bluejays are 7-3 in conference play and 17-5 overall after wins over St. John’s and Georgetown and play a Villanova team that is 20-1. The lone loss for the Wildcats was at Butler back in late December.
Creighton coach Greg McDermott says the Jays will need a complete effort to post the upset.
“We have just got to go play a possession at a time and do what we do then look at the scoreboard after 40 minutes and see who won”, said Creighton coach Greg McDermott. “As close to mistake free as you can play is the recipe to beat Villanova. If you are going to make mistakes and give them easy ones you are going to get your wheels blown off.”
Villanova is 7-1 in BIG EAST play as it vies for a fifth straight regular-season league title. The Wildcats have won seven straight since its lone loss, a 101-93 setback at Butler on December 30th. Six Wildcats average in double-figures, a group led by All-America candidate Jalen Brunson (19.4 ppg., 5.0 apg.).
Tip off is 5:31p.m. The game will be carried by Fox Sports One.
