Top ranked Villanova tied a school record by making 19 three pointers in a 98-78 win over Creighton. The Wildcats used a 15-0 first half run to take command as they moved to 21-1 overall and 8-1 in the BIG EAST. They finished the game shooting 54 percent from the field.
“They are really hard to stop”, said Creighton coach Greg McDermott. “It is like a video game their offense. It is fun to watch and hard to prepare for. It is very hard to come up with a scheme to try and stop them.”
Marcus Foster paced the Bluejays with 20 points, his fifth straight game of 20 or more points, while Khyri Thomas added 12 points and was 5-for-5 from the field. The Bluejays shot 49.0 percent on the night and outscored the Wildcat reserves, 31-16. Creighton shot 22-of-24 at the free-throw line, all in the second half, after the Wildcats were whistled for one foul in the first 20 minutes.
Creighton fell to 17-6 overall (7-4 BIG EAST), with five of those losses coming against top-25 competition.
