An Omaha man has been sentenced to eight years in federal prison for attempting to lure a 12-year-old girl into providing him with sexually explicit photos of herself.
The United States Attorney’s office reports federal Judge Robert Rossiter, Jr. sentenced 37-year-old Jeffrey Fenn, Jr. to eight years in prison on the charge of attempting to receive child pornography. There is no parole in the federal system. Fenn will begin a five-year term of supervised release after serving his prison term.
Federal prosecutors say Fenn befriended the 12-year-old while playing an online video game. Fenn used a messaging service to begin the online relationship during which he asked the girl to take sexually explicit photos of herself and send them to him. She sent suggestive, but not sexually explicit images. Fenn pressed her for explicit photos, even directing her to pose in specific ways. The girl rebuffed him, even after he threatened to end their relationship.
The texts were reported to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. Early last year, the FBI Cyber Crimes Task Force served a search warrant on the Omaha address used during the online chats and texts. Fenn confessed to texting the girl. He admitted to sending her images.
