A six-day layoff ends for Creighton on Wednesday night with a visit to DePaul. The Bluejays are 17-6 overall and 7-4 in the BIG EAST after a loss at top ranked Villanova.
“We really wanted to get some of the guys who were logging heavy minutes off of their feet”, said Creighton coach Greg McDermott. “Hopefully we are in a good place and the guys feel refreshed as we start the stretch run.”
After Wednesday night the Bluejays will play five of their next six games at home and it will give them a chance to boost their tournament resume even more.
“If you play well in the BIG EAST the NCAA stuff will take care of itself”, added McDermott. “That has proven to be the case since we entered the league.”
DePaul is 9-13 on the season and 2-8 in BIG EAST play. The Blue Demons are 5-7 in their new home, Wintrust Arena, where they have not won since Dec. 21 against Miami (Ohio).
Division II transfer Max Strus leads the Blue Demons with 17.3 points per game, including a team-high 60 three-pointers.
