A person of interest in the disappearance and death of a young Lincoln woman has told numerous news media outlets he is accountable for her death.
Aubrey Trail has not officially been charged in the death of Sydney Loofe, whose remains were discovered in Clay County December 4th. She was 24.
Federal investigators picked up Trail and his girlfriend, Baily Boswell, shortly after the disappearance of Loofe, but have held both on unrelated charges.
Trail has confessed to the news media, including the Lincoln Journal Star, that he was involved in Loofe’s death, though he claims she died of accidental asphyxiation. He claims he is ready to confess and inform the FBI about a similar incident two years ago. He says Boswell had nothing to do with the death.
The Journal Star reports on Monday Trail put it bluntly: “I killed Sydney Loofe.”
“I am accountable. I physically am the one who caused the end of her life. Me and only me,” Trail said in a call to the Journal Star from the private prison in Kansas where he’s being held on federal stolen goods charges the newspaper reported.
Trail first confessed to Lincoln television station KOLN/KGIN that he killed Loofe.
The Journal Star also reports Trail stating, “Sydney Loofe should not have died. I deserve life (in prison) or death.”
