It appears slick driving conditions caused a fatal accident in southeastern Nebraska late Wednesday morning.
Chief Deputy Gage County Sheriff Doug Klaus says the driver of a pick-up lost control of the truck on snow-packed Nebraska Highway 112, three miles east of Odell. The pick-up, traveling north, slid into the path of a southbound semi tractor-trailer.
Klaus blames the weather for the wreck.
The collision sheared off the bed of the pick-up, which went off the west side of the highway, remaining on its wheels. The semitrailer truck came to rest on the southbound lane of the highway.
The driver of the pick-up died at the scene. His name has not been released. The truck driver was not injured.
