A final warning to all the guys out there. Valentine’s Day is this Wednesday. Scott Taylor owns Taylors Flowers in Omaha and says when February 14th falls in the middle of the week it is good for business. He says being on a Wednesday is good because people want flowers delivered and received at work so other people will see them. When Valentine’s Day is on a weekend they compete with restaurants and other businesses for those dollars.
Taylor says they have been taking orders for several weeks. He says, “Our staff expands ten-fold. On a typical day we would do between 35 and 50 deliveries in one day. On Valentine’s Day we will probably deliver between 500 and 600 packages that day.” The actual production of the bouquets will start tonight and run through tomorrow. They try to get the work done in advance so on Valentine’s Day itself they can concentrate on deliveries and walk-in customers. He says they typically get about ten walk-in customers a day but that increases to about 75 on February 14th.
Taylor says the number one seller is the traditional dozen roses. Mixed bouquets are also big sellers.
