An A-list Hollywood filmmaker and Nebraska native will be returning to the state to speak to graduates at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Alexander Payne, an Academy Award-winning director, producer and screenwriter will deliver the commencement address at UNL this spring.
The Omaha native grew up just down the street from billionaire Warren Buffett.
Payne is best known for films like “About Schmidt,” “Sideways” and “Nebraska.”
He has degrees from Stanford and UCLA. Payne’s university thesis film was screened at Sundance, which led to his winning backing from Miramax.
While he’ll be the guest speaker in Lincoln on May 5th, he’ll also receive an honorary doctorate from the UNL Fine Arts Department.
