It appears roads slick from the latest blast of winter weather caused a multiple-fatality wreck on Interstate 80 east of York this morning.
The York News-Time reports a pick-up and a semi tractor trailer collided east of the overpass at mile marker 363, between Waco and Utica. It appears slick conditions caused the wreck.
No names have been released. Initial reports from the York County Sheriff’s Office state three men and one woman died in the crash.
The Nebraska State Patrol closed a portion of I-80 due to the fatal crash. The westbound lanes from mile marker 366 to mile marker 360 at Waco were closed until just before 10 o’clock this morning.
The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for much of Nebraska last night that extended until 9 o’clock this morning. Freezing rain and sleet pelted portions of the state overnight on the heels of freezing rain which made the Monday morning commute treacherous.
