The Nebraska Department of Labor has a new job center in Sidney.
The goal, according to the department, is to better connect job-seekers and businesses in that area.
After Sidney-based Cabela’s was acquired by Bass Pro Shops, there are more people looking for work.
Stan Odenthal, director of employment and training with the Dept. of Labor, says they want to be prepared to help as best they can.
“We’re always trying to be as proactive as possible, making sure we’re ready for any situation that comes up,” Odenthal tells Nebraska Radio Network. “We want to make sure the City of Sidney has the job services it needs, that we’re able to help anyone who is looking for a job in Sidney, and make sure we have the resources available out there.”
Odenthal says services include employment and training assistance, resume and interview preparation, and veteran services.
The Dept. of Labor also can help businesses that are hiring.
“We’ll work with any company throughout the state to help set-up job fairs, to talk through their recruitment needs, to try to figure out ways we can match job-seekers to companies,” Odenthal explains.
Businesses can also find interviewing space at the job center and labor market information.
The Sidney job center phone number is 308-254-4429.
