Dallas might not want the NRA, but the governor of Nebraska does.
Gov. Pete Ricketts issued a Tweet today in wake of news the Dallas Mayor Pro Tem, Dwaine Caraway, asked the National Rifle Association to find another city to host its annual convention.
“We want your convention in Nebraska. Nebraskans love our constitutional rights!” Ricketts Tweeted to the NRA on his official account.

The NRA has come under fire in wake of the shooting at the Parkland, Florida high school in which 17 people were killed. Some blame the NRA for blocking gun control measures in Congress.
Nebraska Democratic Party chair Jane Kleeb issued the following statement in wake of Ricketts’ Tweet:
“The Nebraska Democratic Party stands with young people across our state and country who are demanding gun reform now. In typical behavior from Gov. Ricketts, instead of standing with our families, he openly courts the NRA’s corporate lobbyists to hold a convention in Nebraska. The NRA convention in Dallas will be met with fierce opposition and if they come to our state we will be in the streets. We know Ricketts and the NRA have a lot in common-both use their endless pot of money to buy elections and both think our teachers should be armed with guns in our schools. In November, voters will show Ricketts and the NRA the door.”
The NRA is scheduled to hold its annual convention in Dallas May 4th through the 6th.
