Potholes, chuck holes, craters – whatever you call them they are popping up everywhere in Nebraska. A very large pothole caused an Omaha woman to lose control of her car, drive across lanes of traffic and then slam into a retaining wall near 86th and Pacific Street around 10:30 this morning. A friend of the driver couldn’t believe that she and her three children weren’t hurt.
She says, “Coming my way I saw the car like this, I was shocked she was okay. I’m glad she is okay but it is very scary. You wouldn’t think a pothole would cause such big damage.” No one was injured but the vehicle had to be towed from the scene.
Last week was a busy one from the Omaha Street Department. After several icing incidents and snow, city plows were busy. Officials say the weather will be good this week to get some repairs made. They are only the “cold patch” temporary repairs and more permanent ones will be done once winter is over.
