The film Black Panther has been smashing box office records. Omaha native, actress Gabrielle Union and her NBA star husband Dwayne Wade wanted to make sure kids at the North Omaha Boys and Girls Club would have a chance to see the movie. Assistant Unit Director Adrial Mitchell says they put that donation to good use. They took 90 club members and ten staff to a private showing of the movie.
Mitchell says, “We’ve been hearing about this movie and in anticipation and so the kids, to have someone let them know they are important and this is what we want to do for you, our families were very, very happy.”
Mitchell says it was inspiring and empowering. There were many points the kids took away from the movie. It was a great movie for minorities, people of color and the empowerment of women. The group attended the movie earlier this month.
