A tragic crash on a slick stretch of I-80 in Omaha claimed the life of a 5 year old boy. Cameron Philpott was a passenger in a Honda that lost control on the icy interstate around 5:15 a.m. near 72nd Street. The Honda was then rear ended by a semi.
Cameron was properly restrained in a child seat in the back seat of the vehicle. He suffered a critical head injury, was rushed to a hospital and later died.
The driver of the Honda, 28 year old Cory Phillips and the truck driver, 40 year old Vatalii Zadorozhnyl of Irvine, California were not injured.
Investigators say speed and alcohol were not factors in this accident that closed I-80 for several hours. The accident remains under investigation.
