The United States Amateur Confederating of Rolling Skating (USARS) has agreed to come under strict financial scrutiny to settle a complaint that it didn’t have proper oversight of its charitable activities.
Nebraska Attorney General Doug Peterson announced the settlement.
A complaint lodged against USARS alleged it was reimbursing employees for expenses unrelated to its charitable mission. That led to an investigation into USARS’ oversight of its charitable assets, policies, and procedures, according to the AG office.
Under the settlement, USARS must report any internal complaints to the AG office, have a third-party audit to be posted on its website, eliminate incentive-based compensation, and have all board members attend nonprofit training sessions.
The settlement has been filed as a Consent Judgment in Lancaster County District Court.
