Two people have been arrested and nearly 400 pounds of marijuana seized in two separate traffic stops in Hamilton County made within five minutes of each other Wednesday afternoon.
The Nebraska State Patrol reports a trooper stopped a sport utility vehicle Wednesday afternoon at 4:32 for speeding on Highway 14 in Aurora. The trooper searched the vehicle, discovering 326 pounds of marijuana and 1.4 pounds of marijuana edibles.
The driver, 36-year-old Larry Guieb from Indiana, has been charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to sell it.
About four minutes later, troopers noticed a vehicle failing to signal while traveling east on Interstate 80 near Giltner. A NSP drug dog led troopers to search the SUV. They found 55 pounds of marijuana.
The driver, 51-year-old John Young from California, has also been charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to sell it.
Both men have been jailed in Hamilton County.
The estimated street value of the total marijuana seized in the two stops is $1.14 million.
