Today, President Trump is hitting Twitter with comments on China’s trade practices regarding vehicles and that could escalate tensions regarding a possible trade war. Senator Ben Sasse says there are three issues with China with two leading the list.
Senator Sasse says, “The bit two issues with China is intellectual property theft and number two is what they call “Made In China 2025″, which is basically a mercantilism system where they want to take over 20 big tech sectors by 2025. They decreed this goal, the communist party, in 2015.”
Sasse says those two issues require different responses. He says to address the intellectual property theft we have to get serious about the future of cyber war. He says that China is engaged in a cyber war now and we must lead a multilateral group of nations because the U.S. isn’t big enough. We must lead many nations against China I-P theft and the first step is to leave the Trans-Pacific Partnership.
Sasse says we want more trade and exports. He says we must also take steps to let China know we are at cyber war with them. He also believes that tariffs will just lead to retaliation against the U.S. that will hurt agriculture and possibly bankrupt many right here in Nebraska. He says we also must let China know that we are at cyber war with them.
Sasse says a distant third issue with China is the trade deficit.
