Omaha police have identified the motorcyclist killed in a hit-and-run crash this morning as 31-year-old Juan Moreno-Tamayo.
Police continue to search for the sports utility vehicle which fled the scene.
According to police, Moreno-Tamayo was riding east on Q Street shortly after 6:30 this morning when a 2001 Ford Explorer traveling north on 32nd Street failed to yield for a stop sign and ran over the motorcycle. Both Moreno-Tamayo and the motorcycle slid underneath the SUV.
The driver fled the scene, running over the motorcycle and the rider.
Omaha Fire Department medics pronounced Moreno-Tamayo dead at the scene.
Omaha police describe the SUV which fled the scene as a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport, two-door, SUV;
Nebraska plate # UKE59. The vehicle sustained damage to the driver’s side.
The vehicle is registered to Luis Velasquez-Ortiz, who resides on South 32nd Street.
