A shooting which left a couple dead in western Nebraska is under investigation.
The Cheyenne County Sheriff’s Office reports law enforcement responded to a report of elder abuse at the Lodgepole Village Office during the noon hour Thursday.
Their investigation led officers to the residence of 52-year-old Mark Arledge and 51-year-old Michelle Lee Marlatt-Arledge in Lodgepole.
Deputies knocked on the door and report a female voice responded, “Just a minute,” just prior to a gunshot.
Deputies entered the residence only to find the two dead of gunshot wounds. The bodies were in separate rooms.
The bodies have been taken to Scottsbluff for autopsies. The investigation continues.
Cheyenne County Attorney Paul Schaub says the sheriff’s office is handling the investigation as a homicide investigation.
