Honor and Remember – Nebraska Chapter is inviting the public to help honor the service and sacrifice of fallen military members June 5th through the 9th. Director Jim Meier says they are holding three major events that will create opportunities for Nebraskans to honor Gold Star families.
Meyer says, “This really matters to the families because their biggest fear is that their loved one will be forgotten. For citizens to at least take a little pause in their life and remember that they have freedoms because others have died for them and that’s what we’re doing here. It truly matters to the families.”
The Run For The Fallen is a 19 state, 6,000 mile cross-country run that started April 7th in California. Runners will be in Nebraska June 5th through the 8th. There will be ceremonies in Falls City, Nebraska City and in Omaha.
On June 9th there is a 6K Honor and Remember Run/Walk at Werner Park in Papillion. That event gets underway at 9 a.m. Proceeds will go to the 8th Annual Families of the Fallen Gathering and Dinner.
On June 9th, the 8th Annual Omaha Storm Chasers Tribute to Fallen Heroes event will be held at Werner Park. More than 200 families of military fallen will be recognized. The Storm Chasers will take on the Albuquerque Isotopes with the first pitch at 7:05 p.m. Tickets can be purchased through the Storm Chasers website or at the gate.
