Tonight’s Jack White concert at the Baxter Arena in Omaha will be a phone free event. Marketing Manager Beau Brown says people who bring in phones will have to put them in a Yondr security pouch.
Brown says concert-goers will have their tickets scanned at the door. The next step is a Yondr representative who will place cell phones or smart watch in a specially designed pouch and it will be locked. Fans will then get the keep the pouch containing their phone throughout the concert
Brown says, “Any time a fan needs to use their phone for whatever, an email, call or text, we have four stations throughout the concourse where fans can go and unlock their phones at these designated stations. They will receive their phone when they go back to their seat, in the Yondr pouch. At the end of the show we will have stations located throughout the concourse and lobby where they will unlock their phones, these pouches, put them in the case and away they go.” He says the whole process should take more than 30 seconds entering or exiting the building.
During the show, security will be roaming the sections looking for people they have missed or somehow gotten their phones out of their pouches.
Brown says to his knowledge White is the first musician to require these pouches during a show. Comedians have used them for quite some time.
