A Papillion man woke up to an unwanted surprise Saturday morning. Animal control officers with the Nebraska Humane Society were called to an apartment complex around 4 a.m. after a man found a snake inside his unit. Vice President of Field Operations Mark Langan says it was a 3 foot ball python.
Langan says, “We haven’t found the owner yet so we are surmising that it got loose from another apartment, went through the ventilation system, found its way into the other apartment where the owner of that apartment found the snake wrapped around his computer.”
The Humane Society removed the snake and it is at the shelter. Langan says the owner will not face any charges but they would like him to come and pick it up. If not, the snake will be put up for adoption.
Pythons are legal to own in Sarpy County and in Omaha.
