Alcohol might have been a factor in a two-vehicle wreck in eastern Nebraska which claimed one life and left another person seriously injured.
The Saunders County Sheriff’s Office reports the crash occurred late last night at the intersection of Highway 79 and County Road R just outside of Prague.
37-year-old Jennifer Abernathy of Columbus died at the scene. A passenger in her car, 19-year-old Lakota Marvin was flown to Bryan Hospital.
According to the sheriff’s office, 30-year-old Chad Kreikemeir of Weston was traveling south on Highway 79 when a car driven by Abernathy traveling east on County Road R failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection. The pick-up hit the car broadside.
The investigation continues. The sheriff’s office reports alcohol might have been a factor. An autopsy is being performed.
