An anonymous call to police Saturday about the planned robbery at the GI Forum at 20th and Q Street in Omaha ended with police shooting one of the suspect. Four officers in two cruisers stopped the their vehicle a few blocks away from their intended target just before 6 p.m. At that time the driver, identified as 26 year old Jacob Osbon refused officers orders to get out of the vehicle and instead rammed both of their cruisers.
Scene Command Officer Tom Schaeffer says Officers Jacob Chong and Matthew Stigge then fired their service weapons at Osbon who was hit by gunfire. He was rushed to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries and will recover. Once released, he will be booked for possession of a stolen vehicle and two counts of felony destruction of property. Two passengers were treated and released. Charges against them are pending.
Along with Officers Chong and Stigge, Officers Anthony White and Robert Wiley are on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
