A University of Nebraska-Lincoln professor has been fined $500 and ordered to stay clear of a National Rifle Association lobbyist’s home after being convicted of throwing fake blood on the steps of the home.
Patricia Hill has been found guilty of misdemeanor destruction of property in a bench trial in Alexandria, Virginia General District Court.
Hill sprayed fake blood on the steps of the Alexandria home of Chris Cox, a lobbyist for the NRA.
Prosecutors say Hill cross the line of freedom of expression into a criminal act when she vandalized the home in early in the evening of January 11th. Surveillance video recorded Hill spraying the fake blood on the steps.
Hill’s attorney disputes prosecutor claims she was identified in the video, claiming dark, rainy conditions made it impossible to identify the perpetrator. An appeal is planned.
