Misdemeanor charges filed against a former Nebraska State Patrol trooper who instigated a pursuit which ended in a fatal crash have been dropped.
Timothy Flick of Chadron had been scheduled for a trial next month on misdemeanor charges of motor vehicle homicide and making a false statement under oath.
Sheridan County Special Prosecutor Joe Stecher has filed a motion to dismiss the charges.
In early October of 2016, Flick began pursuit of a car driven by an intoxicated driver who had run a stop sign on a Sheridan County road north of Gordon. When he intercepted the vehicle, it ran into a ditch and rolled.
32-year-old Antoine Ladeaux of Pine Ridge, South Dakota died at the scene.
A grand jury empaneled in Sheridan County found no wrongdoing by Flick in 2016.
Flick has indicated he wants to return to the patrol.
