The man who had the longest tenure as president of Creighton University in Omaha has died.
The Rev. Michael Morrison died Thursday while in hospice care in Wisconsin. Morrison was 81.
Morrison served as president of Creighton from 1981 to 2000 and oversaw considerable growth at the university. The Creighton University endowment grew from $16 million in 1984 to more than $200 million in 2000. The money was used to create new scholarships and establish 13 new endowed academic chairs.
The soccer stadium was named after Morrison in 2004.
