A pursuit in central Nebraska ended with shots being fired and the suspect wounded.
The Nebraska State Patrol reports Dawson County Sheriff’s deputies began pursuit of a stolen vehicle in Dawson County near Highway 30 and Road 490. Shots were fired as the pursuit began.
The vehicle pursued fled to Gothenburg, where the suspect stole another vehicle and head west on Interstate 80, according to NSP. It left the interstate and came to a stop northeast of Hershey on a county road.
Multiple law enforcement officers surrounded the vehicle, including those from the Nebraska State Patrol. More shots were fired. The suspect was struck. Officers rendered medical aid. The suspect was taken to Great Plains Health, then flown to a hospital in Omaha.
No officers were injured.
NSP placed the trooper who fire shots on administrative leave, in accordance with NSP policy.
